Daniel Berma Consulting

You’re probably here because you’re starting something. A new idea. A business. A non-profit.
Maybe you’ve got a concept, but you’re unsure how to shape it. Or you’re writing a budget and it feels too loose. Or you’re filling out a funding application and getting stuck in the abstract.

That’s where I come in.

I help people like you think things through. Not with big consultancy decks or corporate language—but with real conversations. What works. What doesn’t. What’s missing. What to do next.

I’ve spent over a decade building systems that connect small businesses with social purpose. I run larger frameworks like the European Social Label and the Global Social Impact Alliance. But I also make time for smaller projects—because that’s where the real work starts.

Sometimes all you need is a second brain. Someone who’s not too close to the idea. Someone who gets business, policy, people—and pressure. That’s what I offer.

I don’t take on everything. But I’m good at stepping in early. Especially when things feel messy or undefined. You can bring me in for things like:

  • Thinking through your business model

  • Reviewing or co-creating a business plan

  • Helping you with SWOT, PESTEL, or other strategy tools

  • Structuring public funding or grant applications

  • Building out a simple but clear budget

  • Acting as a sounding board when you’re stuck

We don’t need to overcomplicate it. One call is often enough to get clarity. If you need more, we can agree on that too.

Who I am

I lead systems-level work with clients such as UNDP, FAO, WFP, and a few others. Most of what I do focuses on building platforms for long-term change—especially around inclusion, entrepreneurship, and economic systems. But I started the same way you did—with rough ideas, tight deadlines, and a deep belief that things could work if just one person believed in them.

That’s why I still take time for smaller projects.
Because ideas don’t grow in a vacuum.
They grow when someone listens, asks the right questions, and helps clear the path.

Most of my time goes into long-term system work. I run and co-develop platforms that connect public funding, private business, and social purpose. These aren’t theoretical models—they’re active structures in use today.

One of the core frameworks is the Agenda for Social Equity 2074, a 50-year model for equitable development. It builds on the logic of the UN SDGs but takes a different path: longer timelines, more grassroots ownership, and a tighter link between research, funding, and action.

Alongside this agenda, I helped develop the European Social Label (EUSL). It supports small and medium-sized enterprises who want to combine business with inclusion. We now have a growing membership and formal working relationships with major institutions.

Through these platforms, I’ve worked with:

  • COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa), where EUSL holds Observer status and contributes to policy dialogue

  • The African Development Bank (AfDB), which provided funding linked to climate mitigation and food security under the Social Development and Empowering Programme (SDEP) with over 400 million USD in raised funds.

  • UNDP, FAO, and several UN-aligned actors, who’ve offered technical input and development support across African and European projects

  • EMN (European Microfinance Network) and related funding ecosystems, which help structure finance for inclusive entrepreneurship

How I can support you

Whether you’re just starting out or already running a small organization, I can assist with the practical steps needed to grow. From registering a foundation or association, to building your first business plan, to finding relevant public funding — I offer grounded support, honest feedback, and clear structure. Together, we make ideas real.

Set up your foundation or association

You don’t need to figure it all out alone.

I can help you register a foundation, non-profit, or association in Sweden—or guide you through a similar structure internationally. That includes:

  • Choosing the right legal form for your goals

  • Writing your statutes (stadgar)

  • Setting up your board

  • Connecting your idea to relevant funding models

This is a straightforward process when done right—but it’s easy to lose time if you miss small details. I make sure the foundation you build on is stable, clear, and fundable from the start.

Raise public funds – without the noise

I’ve spent years navigating public funding systems across the EU, Africa, and the Nordics. I know what funders look for—and how to write things they can actually act on.

I can help you:

  • Identify grants you qualify for

  • Navigate de minimis rules or other funding limits

  • Structure your application and budget

  • Write the kind of text that shows both vision and responsibility

If needed, I can also act as an external partner—holding a grant temporarily or co-owning an application if your entity isn’t yet set up.
